The Pioneers Museum’s “City of Sunshine” exhibit was a large, multi-faceted construction and renovation project. With each step of the project, we made sure to honor the proud tradition of the Pioneers Museum.
Exhibit features
- Exhibit Entrance— A stunning entrance designed to replicate the Santa Fe train depot located on E Pikes Peak Ave. The brick archway and signage provide the fitting entrance into the early 20th century.
- Doctor’s Office — Turn-of-the-century doctor’s office built to scale and true to the architecture of the time.
- TB Sleeping Porch — A replica of the actual living quarters of TB patients in the area.
- Historical Displays — Glass enclosures and other displays with photos and artifacts from the time.
All in all, the project took almost 5 month to complete. The reviews we’ve received from the city of Colorado Springs and museum visitors have been overwhelmingly positive. We’re proud to have done our part to preserve the history of our city.
